Only found a couple of interesting things to read this past week, must have been the fact that I am working on 2 sites that need to launch next week.
- A List Apart: Issue 262
I have been exposed to subversion a lot in the past few months, so it was interesting to read Collaborate and Connect with Subversion. There are definitely pros as well as cons to using it. I kind of skimmed Getting Out of Binding Situations in JavaScript, but it seemed interesting.
- Should Links Open In New Windows?
No way! This article provides some good information from “the experts” about why links should not open in a new window.

07.08.2008The Web Designer Wall has a pretty interesting way of dealing with the link issue. By default, none of their links open in another window, but they have an option box in the top right-hand corner of the screen that you can turn on to enable that behavior. I’m not sure people NEED it—won’t most people who are savvy enough to use that box be capable of ctrl / cmd + clicking something to open it in a new tab? Still, though, an interesting idea.

I had noticed that on Web Designer Wall. I would be curious to know how many people actually use it. I agree that people who are savvy enough will open the link in a new tab/window when they want, and may possibly be annoyed when it automatically does. On the other hand, the non-tech savvy are more likely to be confused when a new window opens and the back button no longer functions as it should.
