Weekly Link Round-Up #55
Just another busy week and some interesting links from the week:
- Writing good alt text
Roger Johansson provides some instructions for writing good alt text.
- 100% CSS compatibility or degrade correctly?
In my opinion, the correct answer is to degrade correctly. The only problem is trying to sell the client on that idea.
- Why thinking in the shower may be an ideal model for “creative pause”
I definitely get a lot of good thinking done in the shower. Someone just needs to invent some way of writing stuff in the shower.
- Google Search Engine Optimization Starter Guide
This is a good beginner’s guide to SEO. Even though there is nothing new or profound here, it is always interested to see what Google recommends as good practice.
- Protonotes
This application provides the ability to add notes to prototypes and comps. I thought this would be useful for our company when we send them to clients.
- JS-909
Cameron Adams created a drum machine using straight-up JavaScript. That’s pretty hot.

I was just talking to my family the other day about getting ideas in the shower and then forgetting them by the time I get done. My brother suggested getting an underwater tablet, like the ones that scuba divers use. They have absolutely no problem writing when wet. I’m seriously thinking about going out and getting one. I’m not sure how much they cost, but I’m sure I should be able to find one for a reasonable price.
@Jason-
That sounds awesome! I started Googling around and found this Underwater Writing Dive Slate. Now to find a suction cup so I can attach it to my wall…
