Weekly Link Round-Up #38

Only found a couple of interesting things to read this past week, must have been the fact that I am working on 2 sites that need to launch next week.

  1. The Web Designer Wall has a pretty interesting way of dealing with the link issue. By default, none of their links open in another window, but they have an option box in the top right-hand corner of the screen that you can turn on to enable that behavior. I’m not sure people NEED it — won’t most people who are savvy enough to use that box be capable of ctrl / cmd + clicking something to open it in a new tab? Still, though, an interesting idea.

  2. @Nate-
I had noticed that on Web Designer Wall. I would be curious to know how many people actually use it. I agree that people who are savvy enough will open the link in a new tab/window when they want, and may possibly be annoyed when it automatically does. On the other hand, the non-tech savvy are more likely to be confused when a new window opens and the back button no longer functions as it should.
